Help! My allergies are back!

What does monsoon season mean for my allergies?

Monsoon season brings a brief relief from the summer heat, but may not be good news for your allergies! With the breeze and wind storms, pollen and dust is able to be swept up into the air and irritate your sinuses. Not only are allergy levels rising during monsoon season, but the chance of infection is higher for waterborne diseases. Being alert of your surroundings is crucial to lessening the amount of exposure.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO HELP WITH MONSOON SEASON

1. WATCH WHAT YOU EAT.

Purchasing organic food may be a better option, but make sure to wash the products before consumption. During monsoon season more dust particles are stuck onto the outer layer of food due to the increase of wind and rain.

2. LIMIT YOUR EXPOSURE.

Making sure to stay out of the rain can help reduce allergy symptoms during monsoon season. Taking additional showers can also aid in rinsing off any contaminates collected when in the environment.

3. WASH YOUR HANDS.

Washing your hands can reduce the risk of infections and rinse off allergens that may be on your hands and arms from being out in the dust storms.

These three tips to help alleviate allergy symptoms have been proven to be beneficial to patients who are at a higher risk of seasonal symptoms.
